In this article, we will talk about the general settings of WordPress, where we will discuss the basic configuration of the system in the general settings of WordPress. To make some changes or update in WordPress, you need to log in from the administrator account.
Step 1 − Click on WordPress Settings Option then Click On → General option in WordPress.
When you log in to WordPress, on the left side you will find the menu list where you need to click on the Settings option. For example, you can see the screen below

- Site Title: With this option, the name of the website can be displayed in the header. Like my website name is simitech and I have set this name in site title to display in header.
- Tagline : Set brief information about your site, such as what kind of content is going to be published in your website, in which niche you are going to work.
- WordPress Address (URL) In this option you can check the original URL of the website where you can install and update the website’s plugins, store website related code, software etc.
- Site Address(URL) In the site URL, you can set the address that you want to be shown to the user. If you want to give another URL for the public, then you can set the URL according to your needs .
- E-mail address: You can set the email address for the blog, which can be useful when resetting the user’s password.
- Membership : By putting a check mark in this option, any user can register in your website.
- New User Default Role : When you register a user in the website, by default what role should he get. By default the user gets the subscriber role but can change it according to your requirement .
- Site Language : choose the language of the WordPress dashboard
- Time zone : You can set time zone according to your city and location.
- Date Format : In which format you want to show the date in your website, you can select it here.
- Time Format : In which format you want to show the time on your website, you can choose it here.
Step3 After filling the data in all the above options as per your requirement click on save changes given below .
